Hey gang! I thought a nice ice-breaker to get to know one another would be to share our individual stories about how and why and when we got into miniatures! Most of us have included dollhouses and miniatures in our interests for our entire lives, after all.
For me, it began one Christmas when I was, oh, maybe nine. My mom bought a Lundby house for me. I didn't touch it for well over a year, and I felt guilty for it. I remember even crying with my head in her lap and apologizing for 'not loving the beautiful dollhouse' she gave me. I'm not sure what changed, but soon after, I couldn't get enough of it. I wanted furniture and accessories, and luckily, there was a toy store in town that carried a HUGE selection of Lundby things! And the house was the perfect size for my Sylvanians which were (and still are) my favorite toys.
I continued collecting miniatures through high school and college, and one year, a client bought the Greenleaf Harrison kit, which sits next to my drawing table, about halfway finished.
Hopefully, building dollhouses and collecting miniatures is something my future children and THEIR children will want to take up as well!
